Spring Conditions; by Tray Ellis:

The chair lift slowed to a stop, swinging back and forth in the brisk breeze.

“Do they not pay their electric bill?” Leon asked.

“It does seem to happen a lot,” Beau said. He looked around. The chairs in front and behind them were empty for quite a distance, and the slopes below were equally unused. “But I’m not complaining. Gives me time to do this.” Beau slipped his gloves off and stuffed them into his pockets. He scooted the several inches sideways until his thigh pressed against Leon’s leg.

Jealousy, Part 17; by Grace R. Duncan:

Saturday dawned rainy and gray. After a wet trip to the dojo, they settled in for another movie marathon. This time, it was Star Trek instead of Star Wars.

“Now, see, I don’t get the fascination with Shatner,” Ian said from the couch. He and Hayden curled up together under a big blanket.

“Me either,” Kane said around a handful of popcorn. Kenji stole a piece from his hand, earning a nip and laughter from Kane. This quickly devolved into a long kiss. They had sprawled together on the floor on a bunch of blankets. “I’m more of a Spock kind of guy. All lean and long, narrow faces. It’d be better if he had long hair…”

Head Custodian Duties; by Tray Ellis:

Conrad considered the space and was satisfied.

As head custodian of The Azure LimeLighter’s concert arena, it was his responsibility to ensure that all remained organized. He did everything from replacing burnt out bulbs to accompanying the Fire Marshal when she made her rounds for inspection. Conrad always made sure his location was in top shape.

He stood in the small, raised alcove to the side of the stage where he could see everything. Only he and the owner had the keys to this spot. It was useful to be able to see the stage, backstage, and the audience area at the same time.

Jealousy, Part 16; by Grace R. Duncan:

The four of them scrambled around to put themselves back together enough and hurried over to the Jeep. They all watched with baited breath as the car slowed, but kept going. A collected sigh of relief was released when it passed completely.

Not a moment later, the noises from the back seat started up again and could not be mistaken. Hayden and Ian stared at each other, then glanced in the back seat. They’d thrown the open sleeping bag over themselves and gone back to what they’d been doing when they’d been interrupted.

Magic Unleashed: Chapter 5 – Cold, Hard Light of Day; by Alina Popescu:

“You will feel better in the morning.” “Sleep on it.” The expectation of seeing things clearer in the “cold, hard light of day.” I’d never understood these concepts. They’d always been foreign to me. I didn’t feel better in the morning, I felt less. Less anger, less sadness, less desperation. Sure, my mind was rested, I could try searching for better solutions to the problems I was stuck with. But the light of day’s magical powers weren’t that far-reaching.

As if that lack of healing, fixing, and brightening abilities wasn’t disappointing enough, morning light’s effect of dulling my emotions had also disappeared.

Dream Big; by Tray Ellis:

“What do you think?” Aaron nudged Garrett with his foot. They were sitting side by side on the sofa with their feet up on the coffee table. Aaron had their son, Jute, on his lap. Jute was all of four years old and equal parts feisty and sweet. At the moment, since he was asleep, he was exhibiting sweet. An hour ago, he’d been running in circles around their home, screaming at the top of his lungs that he loved trucks.

“Think what?” Garrett asked. He bumped Aaron’s foot back.

Jealousy, Part 15; by Grace R. Duncan:

Kane sat back in the booth and stared as Ian and Hayden fed each other. He was feeling distinctly green around the edges. He glanced at his date. “Are you getting as nauseous as I am?”

Kenji chuckled. “Yeah, they’re a bit much, aren’t they?” He turned toward Kane. “Or, we could ignore them altogether.”

“Oh?” Kane asked, turning his attention to Kenji. The guy was hot as far as Kane was concerned. Kenji took martial arts like Kane and Ian did but at a different dojo. He made a comment about switching, though. Something about not being happy with the one he was at, but Kane thought that maybe it was because of him. He was hoping, anyway.

Claret Decadence; by Tray Ellis:

“Now, this is nice.” Max whistled as he entered the room.

“It’s very red.” Lucas nodded. “I don’t remember this from the website.”

“They didn’t have photos of every room.” Max turned a circle in the room. “Even the borders along the ceiling are red.”

“It’s only for a week, anyway.” Lucas thumbed his way through the books piled on a side table. “And someone left a used glass here.”

“The previous guests, I’m sure.” Max picked up the glass. It was a gorgeous stemmed thing, with swirls in the glass, looking like a chalice for drinking wine.

Jealousy, Part 14; by Grace R. Duncan:

Surprisingly, however, Friday did show up pretty quickly when they spent the week hanging out together. They got into something of a routine, spending lunch and the classes they could sitting together. Hayden appeared most of the time between classes at Ian’s rooms and they walked together to the next class. The four of them did homework together after school and invariably Ian and Hayden got distracted with each other toward the end of the afternoon.

With the other two present, they didn’t get to be alone, but they took what they could get. There was plenty of kissing and touching so that by Friday, they were both close to being basket cases.

Capturing Dominus, Part 2; by Tucker McCallahan:

Micah drained the Stolichnaya vodka bottle. He dangled it over the passenger seat before dropping it. The thunk as it hit the floorboard wasn’t half as satisfying as the growl and rumble when he revved the engine. Despite downing all the alcohol he could find, he wasn’t anywhere close to thrashed. He needed to be fucked up. He needed drugs.

As the automatic garage door slowly rose, Micah revved the engine again. The Ferrari purred like a big cat. Tears leaked from the corners of Micah’s eyes. He ignored them. He’d known Dominus had sex with people at the club. Hell, other doctors called him “Dr. Fuck” because of his specialty as a clinical sexologist.

Knowing something and seeing it were two different things.
