Black Tea, Strong; by Tray Ellis:
“Here.” George slapped the back of his hand against Paul’s shoulder. “Let’s duck in here.”
Paul looked over the store façade. Coffee shop. The front was an expanse of glass with tables arranged in rows. The ambiance inside looked kitschy, with artwork framed on the walls and an assortment of hanging lights that didn’t match. There was a tower of shelves against one wall with random things to purchase, most of them having nothing to do with coffee. “Okay.”
Paul followed George in through the doors, the rush of warm air over his skin reminding him that he’d forgotten his hat at home, again.
Comfort, Part 2 (prequel to Turning His Life Around); by Grace R. Duncan:
He woke with a scream. He sat bold upright, looking around a little wildly, trying to figure out where he was.
It took him a moment to recognize the room, then that he was on the bottom bunk, and that Kane was next to him. He put a hand on his heart and the pounding started to slow. He couldn’t remember the dream, had no idea what had caused the reaction, but he had a feeling he didn’t want to know, either.
That was right. Home. Kane. Hay… no. Don’t think it. Don’t think it. Don’t think it.
