Free Fiction Friday – October 14, 2016


Welcome to Free Fiction Friday. Each week we will provide you will free stories from many different authors. Check in with us each week as not all authors will post each week and new authors will be joining us as we grow.

87 Hours; by Tray Ellis:


Eighty-seven hours.

That’s how long it had taken Maris to crochet the blanket. Eighty-seven hours. That did not include choosing the pattern, nor choosing the yarn. It did include the straight-out amount of time spent sitting and moving her hands, always having yarn looped through her fingers, as she spooled together the intricate pattern to create the full size blanket.

It had been a labor of love.

She’d enjoyed the time, to be sure. She’d spent most of it in front of the television, watching movies or shows.

Jealousy, Part 21; by Grace R. Duncan:


Breakfast had been mostly silent while they ate. Kane had tried to call Kenji when he came out, but the other boy wasn’t home. They figured Kenji was either with Hayden or simply avoiding Kane like Hayden was Ian.

They forced themselves to work on homework, which ended up taking most of the day because they simply couldn’t concentrate. They took turns trying again to call their boyfriends after lunch and once more before dinner, to no avail.

They had seriously considered discussed their mom to borrow the car and go over to one or both of their boyfriends’ houses when the phone finally rang later that night. Kane and Ian stared at each other while their mom answered it with a quiet, “Hello?”
